Singer Chris Brown Arrested After Threatening Woman With Gun

R&B singer Chris Brown was arrested Tuesday after a woman claimed he threatened her with a gun, Los Angeles police said hours after officers arrived at the entertainer’s Los Angeles mansion and returned with a search warrant.

“Mr. Brown is going to be transported where he will be arrested for ADW — assault with a deadly weapon,” LAPD Lt. Chris Ramirez told reporters at around 5 p.m. local time (8 p.m. ET). Brown will be formerly booked sometime Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning, police said.

The unidentified woman reported the early-morning incident to police, saying 27-year-old Brown pointed the gun at her before she left his gated estate in the wealthy Los Angeles enclave of Tarzana, law enforcement sources told NBC News.

The LAPD received a call at about 3 a.m. and sent several patrol cars to the home later Tuesday morning.

People were being removed from the residence and would be interviewed following a “protective sweep” of the home, Ramirez said earlier.

“The investigation is still ongoing, the search warrant is s still being conducted and evidence is still being collected,” Ramirez said Tuesday afternoon. Ramirez said he couldn’t comment on whether any weapons were found at the home because the search was ongoing.

To be successful in the music industry you need more than just talent and money for you to blow. Wizkid is one of those successful artiste that knows how to play his cards right and he always comes out on top even when the media tries to bring him down.

Learn from people who have been there and seen it all in order to walk in the same footstep of their success. Enjoy reading and don’t forget to leave your comment if you have anything you want to contribute.

1. Be Humble

Right from the days of ‘Holla at your boy’ till now, Wizkid is still one of the most humble artiste you will ever find in this country, looking at all the things he has accomplished and all the fame and fortune he has accrued for himself. Any other artistes in his shoes would fill like a god and would begin to act like a King among st his peers and colleagues. Wizkid still hangs out with his friends and fans anytime he is in the country and he respects everyone accordingly.

When he was still in EME he was the starboy in the team but he still flowed with everyone and made music with any artistes that wants him on their song. Wizkid has never been reported to be rude to anyone before and this trait is what has been bringing him favour and making people to like him the more.

If you are an upcoming artiste and you are already feeling proud and important with yourself because you have a few fans, then you need to rethink and re-strategize because people would only help you when you are humble and friendly.

2. Be Unique/Standout

Take a look at all the big artistes in Nigeria today from Adekunle Gold, Falz, Wizkid, 2Face Idibia, Olamide, Simi and Banky W you would realize that all these artistes have something unique about themselves both in their music and in their style. If you are an upcoming artistes learn from Wizkid because he is unique from other artistes. He recreated his own style of music from the already existing afrobeat and afrohiphop genre and owned his sound which other artistes now tries to copy.

There can never be another Wizkid so also there can never be another you. You are also unique, try and find that special thing about you that others don’t have and use it to your advantage. Let people be amazed when they listen to your music or wowed when they see your performance on stage. Small Doctor is a lovely example of a unique artiste who created his own niche and today he is making a lot of money from it. So be you and you alone. Be unique!!!!

3. Be Fashionable

Wizkid is still one of Nigeria’s most fashionable artiste and he will always be because he pays total attention to his dressing and always sets new trends. You can never catch Wizkid dressing shabbily, he is always on point in his dressing. Just like the popular saying “You are addressed from the way you are dressed”. People would come to you and want to associate with you when you are well dressed. Nobody wants to associate anyone who doesn’t look good. So as an artiste you can only attract favour and important people who can help your musical career when you are dressed well and look like a star even when you are not. Good attracts good, while bad attracts bad, it’s a normal theory which you can’t discard. So if you want to make it fast in the music industry you need to start dressing like a superstar that you want to become.

4. Be Controversial

These days controversies sells and it sells faster than any other marketing mechanism. You hardly find any top artistes who is not controversial, is it Wizkid?, Davido?, 2Face Idibia?, Olamide? or even Tiwa Savage?. This is just to show you that in other to be a big star in the industry you will need to have something that your fans can talk about.

Nigerians like gossips and they follow only the ones that can give them plenty of it. Wizkid is very controversial, from his baby mama story, to his bashing of his expensive cars and getting a replacement some days after to dating top female celebrities and some social media fights with top celebrities etc.

So as an upcoming artistes you need to put some spice into your brand for people to keep talking about you. Singing and performing is not everything but adding a few spice to your brand goes a long way to keep you relevant.

5. Be Social Media Savvy

If you want to be a celebrity then you need to start learning to put yourself and your activities in the public eyes. And the only way to do this is to make use of your social media platforms like facebook, twitter, instagram, youtube, google plus and other social media sites. Wizkid doesn’t joke with his social media that a day hardly goes by without him posting something on any of his social media accounts.

Try and be like Wizkid even with his busy schedule he still finds time to share a picture of himself with his fans just to always keep the connection with them. If he can do it how much you who is not as busy as he is. Being a star musician is not a one day job you need to work really hard. If you are an aspiring artistes and you don’t have at least two or three of these social media accounts; facebook, twitter, instagram, snapchat, youtube and soundcloud then you are not yet ready for the task of being a superstar.

‘I think Nigerians Are Not Responsive To A Lot Of Music I Feature’ – Producer Cobhams Asuquo Says

Singer, songwriter and producer Cobhams Asuquo is the star of the show, on the new cover of Guardian Life Magazine.

The music titan shares on his famous production process, his passion to create music, and what feedback from Nigerians he receives.

See excerpts below….

On his drive to make music: I think music in itself has a pull, and when it gets you, there’s no choice but to do its bidding. For me, it starts from there. When you’re musically inclined, and you have an ear for music, you hear things and you feel the need to express them.

When you understand the technicalities of proper music expression, you want to express it. Otherwise, it just feels like you aren’t doing what you know you should.

The other thing that drives me to continue to make music is the thought of seeing something move from a place of thought or an idea to a finished work; the process of it is exciting to me. I’m also driven by what I hear and what I want to hear.

There are certain things I hear and find inspiring and there are certain things I here and wonder how in the world they got to the radio and airwaves generally. There are certain things I want to hear and feel like I have the skill set to create what I want to hear; to influence what I want to hear.

I also think that I’m driven to create music because I see music as a tool, you can say and influence so much with the music that you create or produce. I think it’s one of the deepest forms of expression given to man; it’s the one form of expression that man and God share.
On his production process: My production process is interesting. Just like everything great, it starts with an idea; with me wanting to know and understand the personality of the artist, breaking down their personalities in my head. It’s a process that’s very psychological as much as it’s musical; we’re talking mannerism, expressions, vocal range, message, musicianship, and persona.

We’re talking about all that the musician is, me having to understand this, and using it to create a piece that is a reflection of the person for whom we’re creating the music. It moves from that thought to conceptualizing either by myself or with the musician what melodies that I feel will evoke the right measure of emotion. It progresses from there to building the music [all of this in my head], and getting in the studio and fleshing the music while sitting behind the piano or playing the guitar and then from there we begin the process of sequencing or creating the music either with a band or with a DAW and it progresses from there to getting the artist to the studio to voice on the created music.

There’s an interaction with myself and the artist on how comfortable the artist is in the space that they’re voicing, what’s important to them when they voice, creating the right environment for them to voice, getting the right emotions out of them while doing several takes, creating a compilation of the best takes, which is kind of what you do with photography, and sending to the sound engineer to ensure it is properly mixed and mastered and the final work is acceptable.
On how Nigerians are receptive to his music: I think Nigerians are not responsive to a lot of music I feature because we have the radio, and the gate keepers control what we absorb and consider to be music. A lot of the time, what gets heavy rotation is what people want to hear on the radio, and in the clubs, and they become the standard while everything else becomes alternative.

For example, Waje released a song Koko Baby with Diamond Platnumz, which is a great song that can sit anywhere with songs from Flavor or anyone else. But because it was by Waje, who people consider to be an alternative artist, it made it to alternative charts as it wasn’t considered a popular or “Jollof” song. I think Nigerians respond to what we are fed by the radio, and TV, and a lot of the people who create the music which is now considered alternative either don’t have the means or don’t know how to put it in the right spaces where they could be heard.

If you think about it, Adekunle Gold, Simi, and Aramide, are people who are blessed with the opportunities and means to put their music out there and are doing great things while getting into the “Jollof space” without having to compromise. I think, our gate keepers have a role to play in introducing Nigerians to variety because music isn’t just made of Jollof music which I love and make sometimes if I absolutely must. But I also think that, radio stations, TV stations and people who control the blogger-sphere have a role to play in helping Nigerians who have different taste pallets feel a sense of inclusion but also including the rest of Nigeria to this kind of music.

If you think about it, we are one the biggest consumers of ballads besides Korea and a bunch of others. For a long time, we loved Celine Dion, Brian McKnight, West Life and the rest. We are still those people, and it’s just a question of what the media is feeding us as a people and how this is slowly defining us and our tastes.
