Delivering her judgement at a chief magistrate’s court in Modakeke, Ife east area council, Magistrate Bose Awosan, held that the suspect was convicted based on the evidence before her and the plea of guilt.
Kehinde was convicted on two-count charge of breaking into a store located at Amuda-Oba area, Modakeke at about 5:00am of December 20, 2015 and stealing two bags of dry cocoa beans.
Awosan contended that the twelve months jail term would serve as a deterrent to others with similar motive.
Earlier, police prosecutor, Sgt Ona Glory, had told the court that the accused committed the offence on December 20, 2015 about 5am at Amuda-Oba area Modakeke in Ife east area office of Osun.
Glory said that Kehinde broke and entered one cocoa store and carted away two bags of cocoa beans, property of one Peter Ogundiran.
He added that the offence was contrary to and punishable under sections 390 and 413 of the Criminal Code Cap 34, Laws of Osun, 2003.
The accused person who was not represented by any legal counsel pleaded guilty to the two-count and was consequently sentenced to twelve months jail term.
