Drowning Female Picnicker Rescued In Lagos

 A female picnicker escaped death by the whiskers when she was rescued from drowning at Lekki Beach, along Victoria Island-Epe expressway, in Lagos State, on New Year Day. The victim identified as Ifeyinwa Okereke, was said to have been swimming alongside her girlfriends around 6:45pm when suddenly, a heavy wave came and her friend identified as Chidinma held her under wear as the wave pulled her backwards.
Okereke told LEADERSHIP Sunday that, “it was in the process of attempting to remove Chidinma’s hand from my underwear that I lost balance. The wave swept me away. I thought I was going to die. One man who identified himself as Uncle Sam was the person that rescued me.”
The picnickers had gone to have fun at the 9ja Eco Music Festival held at the beach on the fateful date.
Policemen provided watertight security. There were over six patrol vehicles seem at the scene.
Children were seeing bouncing on the large balloons, rolling up and down in the mini-amusement park facility.
While some people were swimming, some were dancing, while others were eating different kinds of food. Some others posed for still cameras as they took pictures.
Meanwhile, at the new Shoprite situated opposite the roundabout to Lekki Beach, people were seen trooping in and out of the place.
The place was crowded when LEADERSHIP Sunday entered inside, while on the outside, children were playing at the mini-amusement park erected at the place.
