HOT NEWS IN NIGERIA

Fuel Scarcity, Food Price Increase, Hardship - Massive Protest Rocks Abuja

The crowd highlighted the crippling effects of skyrocketing fuel prices and long-standing fuel queues, which they claim are fueling inflation and pushing more Nigerians into poverty.

Hundreds of protesters in Abuja stormed the streets on Monday, November 4, to express their frustrations over the hike in petrol, persistent shortages, and worsening economic hardship.

Led by Abdullahi Bilal of the Two Million Man March Against Oil Scam Cabal, along with Barrister Napoleon Otache and Olayemi Isaac from the Citizens and Economic Freedom Rights Activists in Nigeria (CEFRAN), the protesters called for urgent reform in the country’s oil sector, condemning what they described as a failure of leadership to manage Nigeria’s oil resources responsibly.

The crowd highlighted the crippling effects of skyrocketing fuel prices and long-standing fuel queues, which they claim are fueling inflation and pushing more Nigerians into poverty.

They criticized the current fuel subsidy, arguing it has benefited only a privileged few while leaving millions of citizens grappling with high costs.

The protesters demanded full deregulation of the oil sector to promote transparency, competition, and fairer pricing.

They also decried the recurring importation of adulterated fuel, calling it a corrupt practice that damages vehicles and businesses and affects the public’s daily life.

Additionally, the group voiced frustration over the unfulfilled promise of the Dangote Refinery to end Nigeria’s reliance on fuel imports, despite billions of dollars in investments toward refinery development and existing infrastructure upgrades.

They argued that Nigeria, as an oil-producing nation, should not be facing such severe fuel shortages.

Tinubu Will Be a Saint, Next Nigerian President Worst – Aisha Yesufu

Activist Aisha Yesufu has stated that President Bola Tinubu’s supporters would do anything possible to someone incompetent takes over from him.

According to Yesufu, this is to ensure that his successor canonizes him and makes him a saint.

She noted that former presidents Goodluck Jonathan and Muhammadu Buhari cannot be described as good leaders.

Posting on X, she said, “Is Buhari now a competent leader because Tinubu is a worse disaster? Jonathan cannot be a competent leader because Buhari became a disaster!
“The foolishness of threatening people who had the guts to change a failing and callous leader because the person that replaced him became a disaster is beyond comprehension.

“Don’t worry! Those supporting Tinubu today will do anything to ensure someone worse than Tinubu takes over so they can canonize Tinubu and make him a saint

“The biggest problem we have had is citizens’ refusal to hold those they voted for accountable. They wait for the national leader to do everything for them without holding that person accountable. What a naive and cowardly thought!

“Absolute power corrupts absolutely. Anyone who comes in without being checkmated by the people will go rogue in one way or another.

“There are many people who no longer want to vote for anyone, so nobody will say they are the ones that brought disaster! What nonsense!

“Slowly mentally depowering the people by constantly telling them they should never dare to remove anyone failing so they are not responsible for the disaster that might come.”
