New Buses, Cars Arrive Soon Ahead Of Abuja Bus Terminals Take-Off, Says FCT Minister Wike Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has announced that buses and cars for the Mabushi, Kugbo and soon-to-be-completed Central Business District (CBD) bus terminals will arrive soon ahead of the commencement of operations. During an inspection of the ongoing construction of the CBD terminal on Saturday, he said the government is partnering with private companies to provide buses and taxis painted in Abuja colours. Wike reiterated that the government will begin operations with its own fleet to curb the “one chance” menace by ensuring all vehicles are easily identifiable. He added that private operators will join later, but the government must first launch the system with its own contribution. The Minister expressed satisfaction with the quality of work at the CBD terminal, describing it as superior to the Kugbo and Mabushi terminals, and noted that the contractor is committed to completing it before year-end. He believes the vehicles procured for the terminals will have arrived by then. However, Wike expressed dissatisfaction with the slow progress on the 15km Pai–Gomani road in Kwali Area Council, criticizing the contractor for delays and poor performance. He frowned at unauthorized cost variations almost equal to the original project cost, stressing that such approvals exceed his ministerial powers and should have gone through the President, the BPP and the Federal Executive Council. Despite these concerns, Wike expressed confidence in the contractor handling the Gomani–Yangoji section, expecting completion before President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s third anniversary. He reaffirmed the FCT Administration’s commitment to rural infrastructure under the Renewed Hope Agenda, citing significant projects across area councils, including the re-awarded Apo–Karshi road and the Kubwa–Bwari road.
