This Guinea brocade was highly treasured by me then in my ignorance. I stopped wearing Guinea brocade after I discovered it was imported. I never knew. I assumed it was made in Nigeria. But I still proudly wear the Zanna cap. I have so many. They are among my most prized possessions. Even if you are not good-looking, once you wear a Zanna cap, you become more handsome. As for Islam, the issue is ignorance. If my fellow Southerners know Islam and Mutanen Arewa as I do, they will fall in love without necessarily saying the Shahada. God used Muslim Fulani men to raise both my late father and me. And in terms of integrity, honesty, and duty, I have found Arewa Muslims to be more forthcoming than any other group in the Nigerian project. Some of the happiest times of my life were the period I stayed with the Fulani in Nguroje, on the Mambilla Plateau in Taraba.
