I cannot understand why some of our leaders derive pleasure in making life miserable for Nigerians. This so-called Mallam Farouk, if you dig deep into his earnings, you will discover that he made this huge money from shady government deals. What is the problem with us as a people? Why do we love putting unnecessary pressure on ourselves. This kind of lavish spendings is not legally sustainable except through fraudulent financial practices. You can only spend lavishly from money earned from criminal proceeds, not legal means. Mallam Farouk is just one out of many criminals directing the affairs of this nation. I feel angry and disheartened when I see the hungry masses defending "their own criminals" when they are called to question by the EFCC. You will see impoverished Nigerians yelling because one of their own has be invited by the anti-graft agency. Shouting at the top of their voice for his release: after all, he is not the only corrupt person; what about so so and so. God! I felt so bewildered when I saw some poor Nigerians making irritating case for Abubakar Malami, the former Attorney-General of the Federation. Oh, because he is now in the opposition party, he should not be prosecuted for his bad past? Are we really normal in this country?
