💥Nigeria – US Military Cooperation: An unprecedented Success 🔥 I must confess I have not seen this degree of commitment to defeat terrorism in Nigeria since the fight against the dissidents started in the country some years ago. The US – Nigeria strike against terrorists in Tangaza Local Government Area of Sokoto State has kindled a different kind of hope in me. It is one of the most successful military cooperation between Nigeria and a foreign country that I have seen in recent times. The strike was carried out using GPS-based Tomahawk Missiles fired from a maritime platform with high precision. The targets were carefully identified, developed and confirmed by the Nigerian military, leading to the lethal strike that dealt a deadly blow to the terrorists. The operation was clinically executed with tactical precision. The explanation I read has completely put paid to the speculation that there were errors in the missile strike, or some places outside the intended targets were deliberately hit. As I learnt, the Tomahawk combines GPS, inertial navigation, terrain contour matching, and digital scene correlation. These systems allow the missile to fly at very low altitude, avoid detection and strike targets. In this case, it followed a direct inland flight path towards its intended target in the Northwest Nigeria. That straight-line trajectory passed over parts of Kwara State. Therefore, what residents of Offa observed during the incident was not an attack on the town itself, but a technical phase of the missile’s flight, where it sheds the spent booster sections or fuel tanks once the propellants are burnt and they are no longer needed. Thus, Offa just happened to fall along the flight path where this separation occurred and the spent boosters fell. The falling objects seen were not explosives, and they descended as part of the missile’s normal operational design, it does not indicate a targeting error. The warhead itself continued onward after separation, guided independently to its designated destination on the terrorists in Tangaza LGA in Sokoto State. What a feat! As an independent observer, I am now confident, more than ever. I can see our final victory against the enemies of our dear country in sight. As I earlier said, the current leadership of the Nigerian Army (the Chief of Army Staff – Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu) has demonstrated capacity and dedication. He has shown that he knows what the nation wants in a strategic military partnership. I have followed his progress with great satisfaction, so far. He has shown that experience matters in military leadership and demonstrated a clear understanding of the fight against terrorism, and this has elicited strong and tangible US commitment. Undoubtedly, there is a renewed vigour in the fight against the insurgents. The terrorists are in a tight place right now. I will continue to keenly follow the progress of the Nigerian Army.
