The Queen of Hip-Hop Soul celebrated her 55th birthday on Sunday (Jan 11) and marked the occasion by announcing Mary J. Blige: My Life, My Story at Dolby Live at Park MGM, kicking off this May. “This Vegas residency has been a dream of mine,” Blige said. “It’s a chance to get my fans together from all over to experience something special. My Life, My Story will have some surprises for fans who’ve been there through it all. See you in May!” Blige teased on the Today Show that the show will be more theatrical than a traditional concert, featuring actors to help tell her story. “It’s still going to have the music, it’s still going to be fun — but the music will tell the story,” she said. The 10-date residency runs May 1–9 and returns July 10–18. Blige is also gearing up for her Lifetime film Be Happy, out February 7, starring Tisha Campbell, Mekhi Phifer, and Russel Hornsby. Tickets go on sale Friday (Jan 16) at 10am PT/1pm ET via Ticketmaster, with early pre-sales starting Jan 14 for fans and loyalty members. Vegas just got a whole lot soul-ier.
