AGE DEBATE: Former President Goodluck Jonathan has urged African nations to promote younger leaders, stating that individuals between 25 and 50 are better equipped for the physical and mental demands of governance. Speaking at a memorial lecture, he noted, “Why do we begin to think that you must be a hundred years old before you can rule your country?” Jonathan also backed youth participation in politics but stressed that effective leadership must be guided by discipline, patriotism, strong institutions, and respect for the rule of law.
