DEATH OF FRSC OFFICER: TRUCK DRIVER SENTENCED TO LIFE IMPRISONMENT A High Court in Lagos state has sentenced one Okpara Kingsley Onyekachi, a truck driver to life imprisonment for killing an FRSC officer on duty. In a statement by the Corps Public Education Officer, Segun Ogungbemide, the fatal incident occurred on 16 November 2023 at Orile-Iganmu, Lagos State, while an FRSC patrol team was conducting routine traffic enforcement as Investigations revealed that the defendant, driving a 40-feet container laden truck at excessive speed, failed to exercise due care and rammed into a stationary mini truck that had been flagged down for inspection hence crushing a personnel of the Corps while actively discharging official duties. The FRSC Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, however describes the judgement as one that sends a loud and unmistakable message to all drivers, particularly operators of heavy duty vehicles that recklessness on our roads will no longer be tolerated.
