Marine Lance Cpl. Myles Kerr, 19, was running in the Jeff Drenth Memorial 5 K in Charlevoix, Michigan, when he passed a 9-year-old boy, Boden Fuchs, who had fallen behind his group. When Kerr asked if he was all right, the boy asked him to “run with me,” and Kerr agreed, slowing his own pace to stay with him for the rest of the race. Dressed in his boots and gear, Kerr encouraged the boy toward the finish line, and the pair crossed together in just under 35 minutes. A photo of them running side by side was posted on Facebook and quickly went viral, earning hundreds of thousands of likes and shares. Though Kerr downplayed his actions as simply helping someone in need, the attention brought praise from people online, and the boy’s family thanked him with a gift card. Before Kerr returned to duty at Camp Pendleton, California, he appreciated the positive reaction but maintained that he was just doing what felt right. #amazing #kindness #compassion #humanity #viral #usa
