Oyo/Osun Customs Strengthens Trust Through Strategic Engagements The Acting Customs Area Controller of the Oyo/Osun Area Command, Deputy Comptroller of Customs (DC) Moses Adewole, has reaffirmed the Nigeria Customs Service’s (NCS) resolve to strengthen inter-agency cooperation, intelligence sharing and community engagement to enhance security and support economic activities across Oyo and Osun States. The reaffirmation was contained in a press statement issued to newsmen on Tuesday, 10 February 2026, by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Assistant Superintendent of Customs I Abdulmalik Akintola, following a series of strategic courtesy and familiarisation visits by the Command. As part of the engagements, the Operational Headquarters of the Oyo/Osun Area Command hosted the Nigerian Air Force Works Station, Ibadan, led by Air Commodore Daniel Njoku, who paid a familiarisation visit with his delegation. They were received by the Acting Customs Area Controller and the Command's principal officers. Addressing the visitors, DC Adewole expressed appreciation to the Nigerian Air Force for the visit and reiterated the Command’s readiness to strengthen existing partnerships in line with the Service’s mandate. “The NCS remains fully committed to its responsibilities of revenue generation, trade facilitation and border security. Our collaboration with sister security agencies, including the Nigerian Air Force, significantly improves operational efficiency and enhances national security outcomes,” Adewole said. Speaking during the visit, Air Commodore Njoku stressed the importance of sustained interagency synergy in addressing emerging security challenges and safeguarding national interests. “No single security agency can effectively address today’s complex security threats in isolation. Strong collaboration, intelligence sharing and mutual support among sister agencies remain critical in combating smuggling, economic sabotage and other trans border crimes,” he said. On a separate occasion, the Acting Customs Area Controller paid a courtesy visit to the Nigeria Immigration Service, Oyo State Command, where he was received by the Deputy Comptroller of Immigration, representing the State Controller of Immigration, DC Vincent Oyeka. Discussions during the meeting focused on strengthening intelligence sharing, coordinated border management and proactive measures to improve the state’s security architecture. “Effective border management requires seamless cooperation among agencies. By sharing intelligence and aligning our operations, we can better address security challenges and protect national interests,” Adewole noted. Meanwhile, the Acting Customs Area Controller also paid homage to the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rasheed Ladoja, underscoring the Service’s recognition of traditional institutions as vital partners in maintaining peace, promoting lawful trade, and supporting community-based security initiatives. “Traditional rulers remain critical stakeholders in community security and social stability. Their influence at the grassroots level complements the efforts of security agencies and helps create an environment conducive to economic growth,” he said. Deputy Comptroller Adewole reaffirmed that the Oyo Osun Area Command would continue to build productive relationships with security agencies, traditional authorities and other stakeholders to ensure the effective discharge of the Service’s statutory responsibilities.
