An Atlanta woman returned home from vacation expecting to find her family’s house exactly as she had left it. Instead, she found nothing but a pile of rubble.

While she was away, a demolition company mistakenly tore down her property after confusing it with another address. According to reports, the crew realized the mistake only after the homeowner’s neighbor questioned what they were doing. By then, the house had already been destroyed. As if losing a home wasn’t devastating enough, the ordeal took another bizarre turn. The City of Atlanta later issued a notice stating that the demolition had been carried out without the required permits and that the debris needed to be cleaned up. Although the homeowner had never authorized the demolition, she was left dealing with the aftermath while seeking accountability from those responsible.
