n the mid-1950s, tap dancer Arthur Duncan appeared regularly on Betty White's television variety show. Not everyone approved. Some television stations and sponsors objected to a Black performer appearing alongside White and pressured the show to remove him. Betty White refused. According to Duncan, instead of cutting back his appearances, she gave him even more airtime. He later said her support changed the course of his career and never forgot that she stood by him when others would not. #BettyWhite
