As we welcome 2026, I extend my warmest wishes to all Nigerians — may this year bring renewed hope, resilience, and opportunities for growth. As I shared yesterday during my interview on Channels Television, looking back on 2025 reminds us of the progress we’ve made and the work that still lies ahead. Together with my Minister of State, we remain committed to working tirelessly to achieve President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR’s vision for education — ensuring every child has access to quality learning and every teacher is empowered to succeed. In 2026, we will continue to strengthen our education system, empower our youth, and create an environment where knowledge and innovation can thrive. May this year bring peace to our communities, inspiration to our hearts, and tangible progress that uplifts the lives of all Nigerians. Happy New Year — a year of transformation, hope, and opportunity awaits!

Did you know that under Nigerian traffic laws, many driving offences are strict liability, meaning that once the offence is committed, it does not matter whether you intended it or not? Obey traffic rules, stay responsible, and protect lives. My lawyers in the house, please help shed light on strict liability.

As we start a new year, I want to briefly share where Nigeria stands in its digital economy journey. 2025 was an inflection year, focused on moving our digital economy from ambition to committed execution. Much of the work happened below the surface, centred on securing approvals, mobilising partners and ensuring our priorities are not only visionary, but deliverable at scale. During the year, Nigeria crossed several important thresholds across a number of long-horizon initiatives - Project Bridge, our national fibre backbone programme, progressed to World Bank Board approval, anchoring long-term investment in ubiquitous connectivity. - The NUCAP Towers Programme secured approval for the deployment of 3,700 towers to extend connectivity to unserved and underserved communities, including rural and riverine areas. - The Digital Economy & E-Governance Bill advanced to its final stage of approval, strengthening the legal and regulatory framework for our digital economy. - The Federal Executive Council approved the exploration of a franchise-based transformation of @NipostNgn, repositioning over 1,500 postal locations as a national platform for inclusive digital and government service delivery. - We launched N-ATLAS, Nigeria’s national large language model initiative, as part of building sovereign AI capability and long-term absorptive capacity. - Through the @3MTTNigeria programme, we continued to expand national digital skills capacity. - We launched the Digital Trade Desk, activating it through trade missions to the U.S. and Sierra Leone to translate digital capability into export and partnership opportunities. During the year, we also delivered Nigeria’s Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) Standards & Framework, establishing a common reference for interoperable digital systems across government. In parallel, led from my office, we implemented the #DevsinGovernment initiative to strengthen in-house digital delivery capability, while advancing the groundwork for a national data exchange system and initiating National Web Design Standards to improve the quality and consistency of public digital services. Equally important was strengthening our global digital positioning. Through coordinated engagements at #UNGA80, VivaTech in Paris and the EU–Nigeria Digital Economy Open Day in Brussels, we reinforced Nigeria’s credibility as a serious partner on digital infrastructure, talent, AI and digital public infrastructure. These efforts contributed to new partnerships and investments, including a €45 million EU–NG Digital Economy Package. We also had a significant year in the telco sector. Through tariff rationalisation, tax harmonisation, and protection of critical national digital infrastructure, we helped restore market sustainability and investor confidence, setting the stage for accelerated network expansion, deeper broadband penetration and stronger contributions to GDP and digital inclusion. All of this work has been undertaken in alignment with the Renewed Hope Agenda of H.E. President @officialABAT, GCFR whose leadership has provided the clarity, confidence and policy backing required to pursue long-term reforms. It has been a privilege to serve in his cabinet and to contribute, alongside colleagues across government, to building the digital foundations for inclusive growth and shared prosperity. In 2026, the focus now shifts decisively to deployment and impact. With key initiatives approved and partnerships mobilised, the next phase is about execution — expanding connectivity, activating service platforms, deepening talent pipelines, enabling interoperable digital public infrastructure, and translating digital capability into economic growth and improved public services. I remain grateful for the collaboration, trust and shared commitment that have brought us to this point and I look forward to working together as we move into sustained delivery. ๐Ÿ’ฅNigeria – US Military Cooperation: An unprecedented Success ๐Ÿ”ฅ I must confess I have not seen this degree of commitment to defeat terrorism in Nigeria since the fight against the dissidents started in the country some years ago. The US – Nigeria strike against terrorists in Tangaza Local Government Area of Sokoto State has kindled a different kind of hope in me. It is one of the most successful military cooperation between Nigeria and a foreign country that I have seen in recent times. The strike was carried out using GPS-based Tomahawk Missiles fired from a maritime platform with high precision. The targets were carefully identified, developed and confirmed by the Nigerian military, leading to the lethal strike that dealt a deadly blow to the terrorists. The operation was clinically executed with tactical precision. The explanation I read has completely put paid to the speculation that there were errors in the missile strike, or some places outside the intended targets were deliberately hit. As I learnt, the Tomahawk combines GPS, inertial navigation, terrain contour matching, and digital scene correlation. These systems allow the missile to fly at very low altitude, avoid detection and strike targets. In this case, it followed a direct inland flight path towards its intended target in the Northwest Nigeria. That straight-line trajectory passed over parts of Kwara State. Therefore, what residents of Offa observed during the incident was not an attack on the town itself, but a technical phase of the missile’s flight, where it sheds the spent booster sections or fuel tanks once the propellants are burnt and they are no longer needed. Thus, Offa just happened to fall along the flight path where this separation occurred and the spent boosters fell. The falling objects seen were not explosives, and they descended as part of the missile’s normal operational design, it does not indicate a targeting error. The warhead itself continued onward after separation, guided independently to its designated destination on the terrorists in Tangaza LGA in Sokoto State. What a feat! As an independent observer, I am now confident, more than ever. I can see our final victory against the enemies of our dear country in sight. As I earlier said, the current leadership of the Nigerian Army (the Chief of Army Staff – Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu) has demonstrated capacity and dedication. He has shown that he knows what the nation wants in a strategic military partnership. I have followed his progress with great satisfaction, so far. He has shown that experience matters in military leadership and demonstrated a clear understanding of the fight against terrorism, and this has elicited strong and tangible US commitment. Undoubtedly, there is a renewed vigour in the fight against the insurgents. The terrorists are in a tight place right now. I will continue to keenly follow the progress of the Nigerian Army. I have hope. ©Source anonymous #NigeriaUSSecurityAlliance #OurSoldiersOurPride 2nd of January ISWAP Rt๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿ”ฅ
