Has Simi Taken Chidinma’s Place?

Chidinma Ekile’s rise to prominence came from her winning the 3rd season of MTN Project Fame West Africa and ever since then she has continued to wow and impress her fans from her debut single Jankoliko featuring Sound Sultanto Kedike and many other hit songs. But of recent the talented, young, petite singer has been off the radar leaving her fans to wonder what is going on with her and her career. Some months back, rumours broke out that the singer had parted ways with her long time record label,Capital Hills Records owned by Clarence Peters and iLLBliss. The singer is now signed to 2Nite Music owned by Flavour and she has finally released her first song after her long self-imposed hiatus from music.

On the other hand, Simi who has very similar characteristics and features to Chidinma has been able to capitalize on her song drought and absense by riding on her biggest selling point which is her small and petite nature. Many people fell in love with Chidinma because she was small, petite, cute and at thesame has a very lovely voice. Chindima has a small stature but has a strong voice which doesn’t really match her body but that is her selling point and everyone love it. Simi who also has a petite figure got a voice that matches her body. She’s got this very tinny soprano voice that is rare to come by this days and it has made everyone to shift from Chidnma who used to be everyones sweetheart to Simi.

Simi, from her first hit single “Tiff” to “Jamb Question” to “Soldier” with Falz and to her last single “Love Don’t Care” and her joint “Chemistry“EP with Falz has been phenomenon with every song she released. She has become the girl every artiste wants to work with because she creates magic with her voice. Yes her voice is out of this world and it stands out from the rest. Her petite stature and voice texture has given her an edge which she has been able to capitalize well to her advantage. Chidinma once had this grace though she still has it but her self-imposed hiatus has opened door for Simi and she’s doing very fine as her fanbase is steadily growing everyday and getting recognitions and awards for her talent.

It wont be a bad idea if Chidinma and Simi can come together to do a song, it would definitely be a hit. Simi is untouchable at the moment, she is enjoying the fame and her fans her loving her music. Chidinma’s return might spark a rivalry between the two singers but it is good for a healthy competition. It would help them improve and be better in what they do.
