NIGERIAN ARMY CONCLUDES LIEUTENANT TO CAPTAIN PRACTICAL PROMOTION EXAMINATION 2026 IN ABEOKUTA : A MILESTONE IN OFFICERS' CAREER DEVELOPMENT

The Nigerian Army has successfully concluded the 2026 Lieutenant to Captain Practical Promotion Examinations (LCPPE) 2026, marking a significant milestone in the professional development of junior officers concerned. The exercise, hosted by 81 Division Nigerian Army, in Abeokuta, Ogun State, tested candidates across academic, physical, and tactical domains, reinforcing the Army’s commitment to excellence and leadership. In his remarks before announcement of the results, the Commander Training and Doctrine Command Nigerian Army (TRADOC NA), Major General Peter Malla, described the examination as a defining moment in the career of officers who sat for the examinations. "This examination represents not merely an assessment of knowledge and competence, but a test of character, discipline, and leadership potentials," he said, urging the candidates to carry forward the lessons learned as they prepare for greater responsibilities. Major General Malla commended the discipline and professionalism displayed by candidates, noting that the exercise was conducted in strict compliance with the Nigerian Army Charter for Promotion Examinations. He expressed appreciation to the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, for his timely support and resources, and 81 Division Nigerian for its hospitality and administrative coordination. In his farewell remarks, the General Officer Commanding 81 Division Nigerian Army, Major General Adebayo Babalola, commended the conduct of the exercise, describing it as one of the most rigorous and essential phases in an officer’s career. "To the candidates, this transitional requirement for elevation from Lieutenant to Captain is not merely a desirable stage, it is a step into the backbone of company-level leadership," he stated. He encouraged officers to reflect on their growth always, and to carry the resilience and strength of Abeokuta back to their units. The LCPPE 2026, which spanned two weeks and covered eight subjects comprising Tactics, Map Reading, Communications, Administration in the Field, Driving and Maintenance, Skill at Arms, French Language and Physical Fitness tests, was hailed as a true test of leadership and tactical proficiency.
