The Authority held a Stakeholders Engagement Meeting at its Abuja Regional Office, Jabi Annex, to review operational standards across gas and liquid petroleum products retail outlets.

In her opening remarks, the Regional Coordinator North-Central, Hajiya Maijiddah Abdulkadir emphasized the importance of compliance with statutory provisions of the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA), operational integrity of retail infrastructure, and strict adherence to Health, Safety, Security, and Environment (HSSE) standards. The session focused on key issues including pump calibration accuracy, LPG dispensing protocols, storage tank integrity testing, fire safety systems, environmental protection measures, and enforcement of approved operating licenses. Stakeholders comprising marketers, station operators, and gas retailers made contributions on regulatory challenges, inspection processes, and the need for continuous technical training to improve compliance levels. The meeting reinforced the Authority’s commitment to transparent regulation, consumer protection, product quality assurance, and safe retail operations. It served as a strategic platform to align operators with evolving regulatory expectations while strengthening oversight of Nigeria’s downstream retail landscape.
