Nineteen-year-old Misha Rohozhyn, who is non-verbal and has Down syndrome, faced a terrifying journey as he and his mother, Liana, escaped the war in Mariupol, Ukraine, during Russia's siege of the city. Together, they crossed minefields and lived through artillery attacks while trying to reach safety. It was a long and frightening journey, but Liana never gave up. To keep her son calm and give him hope, she kept telling him they were going to meet his favorite WWE star, John Cena. Those words helped Misha stay positive as they traveled until they finally reached a refugee residence outside Amsterdam. Their remarkable story was later reported by *The Wall Street Journal*. When John Cena read about Misha and his mother's journey, he was deeply moved. At the time, he was filming in London, only about an hour away by plane. Without hesitation, Cena flew to Amsterdam on June 5, 2022, to surprise Misha in person. Speaking about the visit, Cena said, "When I read about Misha's story, it reached out to me — not just Misha's story, but the story of Misha's mom as well." The meeting was filled with unforgettable moments. Cena hugged Misha, shared cake with him, played with building blocks, and gave him a WWE championship belt. The surprise brought smiles and joy after everything Misha and his mother had been through. After the visit, Cena shared a heartfelt message on social media. He wrote, "Misha and his mother, Liana, define #NeverGiveUp." What began as a mother's promise to comfort her son during one of the hardest times of their lives became a real and unforgettable moment, thanks to the kindness of a man who chose to make that promise come true.
