Japan has provided Nigeria with a $3.5 million grant to strengthen rice seed production and improve food security. The project, launched at the National Cereals Research Institute in Badeggi, Niger State, will help produce better-quality rice seeds for farmers. The support also includes 20 tractors, rice transplanters, combine harvesters, excavators and other farming equipment, as well as technical training. The project is part of efforts to help Nigeria double its local rice production by 2030. #africanfolder
