Solidstar Releases Cover Art, Tracklist For Much Anticipated Album ‘WEED’

Achievas Entertainment afro-pop superstarSolidstar has revealed on social media; the cover art and track-list to his much-anticipated album ‘WEED’ set to drop onOctober 31st 2016.

The ‘Wait Refix’ singer took to his Instagram on October 27th 2016 to reveal the visually appealing album cover.

On the cover, the singer’s face can be seen tripled with a conspicuous crack on one of the faces; indicating a rather figurative representation and meaning to it.

Accompanied with album cover, the songster wrote, “This moment right here; is incredibly special to me. This is a moment that would go down in history! I am beyond proud to show the world; especially my amazing fans the body of work I’ve dedicated ample amount of time and effort to…I present to you; WEED album cover.

I can’t even begin to express the amount of joy my heart abounds right now – I just want you all to get a feel of this amazing body of work. For now, all I can say is; this is an appetizer for what’s set to come! Anticipate the release of #WEED; Witness Everything Exceptionally Different”.

Following the announcement, Solidstar took to his Instagram yet again; on October 28 2016 to reveal the tracklist to the album; further escalating anticipation among his hankering fans.

The tracklist has a whopping sum of 21 songs and boasts an eclectic list of some of the most talented acts in the industry, including fast-rising singer Mr. Eazi, indigenous rapper Reminisce, veteran singer 2Face, dancehall singer Timaya, popular Tanzanian singer Diamond Platnumz, highly sought-after rapper Falz and a host of other talented artists.

Solidstar first revealed his plans to drop an album sometime in January 2016 – an album he has described as “one of the most phenomenal body of works” of 2016. The singer revealed the actual meaning of the album title ‘WEED’; elaborating it is an acronym representing the phrase; ‘Witness Everything Exceptionally Different’.

The songster has joined the number of artists expected to drop their albums before the end of October, including Tekno, Phyno, Ice Prince and several others.

I Refused Osinbajo’s Plea To Support Buhari Because He Jailed My Father – Femi Kuti Says

Femi Kuti, son of Afrobeat legend, Fela Anikulapo- Kuti, has said that he didn’t support the present administration during the 2015 general elections because Buhari jailed his father in 1984.

He disclosed that despite the appeal by the Vice- President, Yemi Osinbajo for his support during the last election, he refused outrightly.

He said this while reacting to a fan on twitter who accused him of keeping mute unlike his father when the country is in recession.

The fan @thonynatz said, “The Great one would have done ten albums by now on this callous government.

“You still have strength to sing with this recession you and your clueless brother helped to bring on hapless Nigerians.

“You opened your doors to ”osibande” and your brother tweeted his support for APC and that is why you can’t talk now.

Femi Kuti in his response stressed that he wouldn’t have supported a man who jailed his father.

Naijaloaded recalls that in 1984, during Buhari’s military regime, Fela Anikulapo Kuti, was arrested and jailed for five years on a charge of currency smuggling which Amnesty International said was politically motivated. He was later released after a year and a half following another change of military regime.

Femi said “Vice President Osinbajo came to ask for my support but I refused, told him there was no way I could support a man who jailed my father.

“Never have I placed my support for any political party or politician.

“Those that come to the Shrine know where I stand.

“Thank God the Vice President is still on seat, ask and confirm, I vehemently said ‘NO’. I can’t forget the beatings, wickedness my father suffered while we were growing up.” Femi emphasised.

US singer T-Pain arrives Nigeria for the Heineken ‘Live Your Music’ party!

3 Thrones Concert: Tunde, Wunmi Obe Advice Tiwa Savage On Marriage

During Tiwa Savage’s performance at the monarchical-themed concert; ‘3 Thrones’ held on Sunday, 23rd of October, 2016 at EKO Hotel Convention Centre, Lagos; the singer brought out celebrity couple Tunde and Wunmi Obe to ask a number of questions regarding their laudable marital bliss.

Tiwa halted her performance to comment on the scourge of failed marriages among young couples before she went on to ask the couple the secret to their successful married life. A question to which Wunmi quickly replied; “I married the man I love – he’s my friend and everything.”

The venerated couple further remarked; “Mutual respect is also very important to a marriage. Communication, patience, tolerance are also imperative”.

“Most importantly; the only third party allowed in your life should be God and no one else” the couple concluded in unison.

Tiwa Savage performed a number of her smash hits including ‘Kele Kele’, ‘Without my Heart’, ‘Bad’, ‘Wanted’, ‘Standing Ovation’ and more. Fellow label mate Dr. Sid also joined her on stage to perform another smash hit of hers; ‘If I Start to Talk” before wrapping up her exhilarating performance for the night.

Has Wizkid Surpassed 2face’s Achievements? [Find Out Here]

There are very few artistes in Nigeria who has gotten to the height in their career like the legendary 2face Idibia. There is absolutely no achievement he hasn’t accomplished in his music career span that he had to delve into acting just to explore other talents he possesses.

So many artistes look up to him and want to emulate him by sounding like him, dressing like him and even try to act like him. He is the only hip hop artistes in our generation who has attained legendary status because of his unique nature and song writing skill. If there is anyone who can contend with him then it has to be our very own starboy, Wizkid.

Wizkid rise from just a random artiste to an internationally acclaimed superstar is a source of motivation and inspiration to other African artistes that they can get to the peak of their career if they dream big and work hard. From the days of “Hola at Your Boy” to “Ojuelegba”, Wizkid has grown and matured in his music that he now features on top American and UK artistes songs like Drake’s “One Dance”,Tinnie Tempah’s “Mamacita” just to mention a few.

Just like 2face, Wizkid has won every major awards and recognitions that a successful artiste should win. He has won BET Awards, MOBO Awards, 5 times The Headies Award, 2 Channel O Music Awards, MAMA Awards, Afrimma Awards and many others. Wizkid has also received other top nominations at the MTV Europe Music Awards and World Music Awards.

In terms of International exposure Wizkid beats 2face hands down in that criterion. The number of international collaborations he has done with top international artistes is unimaginable for an African artiste. This year alone he has worked with Drake, Chris Brown, Tinnie Tempah, French Montana, Trey Songz, Dj Henry, Hoody Baby and Justine Skye his alleged American girlfriend.2face has also worked with some top international artistes like Wyklef, T-Pain, Beenie Man,Sway and Bridget Kelly.

Wizkid was the first Nigerian artiste to feature on Billborad, an international music chart courtesy of his role in Drake’s “One Dance” song which is off his album ‘VIEWS’. This is a feet no other Nigerian has been able to reach even 2face have never featured on Billboard before. The song peaked on the number one spot on Billboard for seven consecutive weeks tying Michael Jackson’s record.

2face is still one of Africa’s biggest artistes and has headlined some of the biggest shows and tours in the country and beyond but he hasn’t toured major European and America cities with top international artistes. Wizkid on the other hand has toured Europe, America and even Africa with top international artistes like Chris Brown, French Montana, August Alsina, Mariah Carey, Maxwell, Calvin Harris and Kendrick Lamar.

2face has some of the best albums ever released in Nigeria and he still has his most evergreen song ‘African Queen’ to his name. His evergreen albums are “Grass 2 Grace”, “Face 2 Face”, “Away and Beyond” and “The Ascension”. Wizkid has just two albums “Superstar” and “Ayo” and they are still evergreen. With only two albums to his name Wizkid has been able to carve a niche for himself to becoming Africa’s pride to the world.

To cut the long story short, from my own perspective I think Wizkid has gotten to the same level that 2face is and from the way he is going he might surpass him and also attain legendary status in a matter of years. There is hardly nothing 2face has achieved that Wizkid have not done or surpass. But can Wizkid command the same respect back at home just like 2face?I would say NO and I would leave it at that.

Falz, Adekunle Gold Get In Here, Davido Wants To Spend A Billion Naira On Simi

 

Davido has a growing roster of artistes on his DMW label and he would spend that much to get Simi.

At the moment, it’ll be hard to write the story of Nigeria’s fastest rising female act, Simi without giving honourable mentions to the men in her life who are also pop stars; Falz and Adekunle Gold.

But another player is entering the equation, and he has a lot of money to throw around.

Remember Davido recently floated a new label DMW (Davido Music Worldwide) where he signed Danagog, Dammy Krane, Mayorkun, Ichaba and Dremo.

He was guest on Beat FM recently where he was asked if he’ll consider signing a female act.

His response was, ‘I don’t think I can handle a female artiste, but if I’m going to sign anybody, I’ll put a billion on SIMI.’

Simi, who is currently signed to the Steve Babaeko-led X3M Music, is the only Nigerian artiste featured on Davido’s latest EP Son Of Mercy.

Pop star Britney Spears on Saturday night while performing with her dancers at The Axis inside the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino, nearly suffered a Wardrobe malfunction as her bondage style bra ripped open and almost embarrassed her. If not for her dancers who rushed towards her and tried to protect her modesty. Britney, a true professional, still continued singing while her dancers tried to fix her bra. After weeks of anticipation, meticulous planning and feverish excitement, Smooth FM’s A Night at the Kazbah, held on Saturday night at the Federal Palace Hotel, Lagos.

Speaking backstage after his performance, headliner - South African guitarist, singer-songwriter, Jonathan Butler could not hide his excitement. According to him ‘I had an awesome time in Lagos at Smooth 98.1FM’s ‘A Night at The Kazbah’.  It was amazing, I can’t wait for another opportunity to come back and do it all over again’.

Soulful house trio, Mi Casa, got guests on their feet with back-to-back hits including their performance of smash ‘Jika’. According to lead singer, Jay ‘Saturday night was absolute magic, it honestly felt like not only the first time performing in Lagos but it [performing] felt so new to us, the energy was real. Everybody was amazing, the production was insane, it was really a dream for us to be here and finally get to show Lagos, Nigeria what Mi Casa is all about…a huge thank you to Smooth FM and everybody that was there…’

Vocalist and winner of The Voice Nigeria, A’rese, opened the show to a packed house, backstage she revealed “I couldn’t have asked for a better debut concert experience. It was an honour and a privilege to open for Mi Casa and Jonathan Butler. I was inspired watching them perform. I hope A Night At The Kazbah becomes a Lagos institution. Can’t wait for next year!”
