Guehi and Gomez seen at full time having a catch up 👀

Last weekend, newcomer Mavo shocked Afrobeats by locking down the top 3 spots on the charts. For an artiste that many consider average, the guy’s motion is something that needs to be studied. Big artistes are riding his wave. Listeners are connecting and shouting “Kilo” while Afrobeats purists watch, aghast and befuddled. Mavo’s biggest secret, however, is not his relatability and pedestrian lyrics. It is his team, Inner Circle Entertainment. Yes, the same team that pushed Fido from ‘Awolowo’ to ‘Joy Is Coming’. They were the same team that pushed Kunmie of ‘Arike’ fame. They have done this before and are fast becoming the go-to management outfit for breaking obscure artistes into Afrobeats mainstream. When Fido fell out with them, I wrote a piece stating that it was a grave error and will mark the beginning of the end. Impatience and ignorance make artistes do ridiculous things and it is easy to assume that you have arrived and can do the work. That’s until you find yourself, alone, swimming in the deep end, drowning. If Fido had been patient, Inner Circle would have made him a bonafide superstar. He was on that trajectory already. He was a good singer and had an infectious smash hit that resonated around the globe. But hubris, hubris was his Achilles’ heel. For all the motion we see with Mavo, I am happier for the entire Inner Circle Team. I have been a label executive and I know how incredibly hard it is to break an artiste. What you are seeing is not luck. It is tears, blood and sweat of few persons, who bet everything on an unknown artiste - money, time, effort - with no guarantees that it will pan out. Seeing Mavo blow up is sweet victory and I am incredibly happy for them. Long may the streak continue. 🙏🏽❤️ ©️UK Alaneme, 2025. #Mavo #MusicBusiness #BestOfAfrobeats #AlaAfrica

A$AP Rocky is facing cr!t!sm after proposing to another woman instead of Rihanna 😳 He was spotted proposing to actress Margaret Qualley as part of a Chanel commercial being filmed in Downtown Manhattan. Although it appears to be a scene from a new Chanel campaign, many fans aren’t happy about it. Some say that, real or not, it should have been Rihanna in that moment rather than another woman. Others are saying that, deep down, Rihanna herself isn’t happy with the scene. But why wouldn’t Rihanna be happy about it❓

How to Marry Two More Wives When You Can’t Feed the First One (A Step-by-Step Guide to Nigerian State Creation) There’s a special kind of genius that only exists in Nigeria. A political kind of madness that should be patented and exported as a natural resource. These people can’t pay N-Power youths. They can’t release police retirees from the hellfire called PENCOM. They can’t create jobs. They can’t protect lives. But somehow — by the grace of greed and the gospel of waste — they’ve found the spiritual energy to create more states. Ladies and gentlemen, Nigeria is about to have more wives — sorry, states! Step 1: Redefine “Development” Development, in the Nigerian dictionary, no longer means roads, schools, hospitals, or jobs. No, my friend. It now means new letterheads, new logos, and fresh coat-of-arms designs, with the governor’s nephew in charge of the printing contract. You can’t fix a classroom roof, but you can build a new assembly complex with Italian marble. You can’t pay teachers, but you can approve a ₦2 billion “State Inauguration Gala.” We call this “strategic mismanagement.” Step 2: Multiply Failure Efficiently Creating new states is not about solving problems — it’s about distributing them evenly. One broke governor becomes two broke governors. One looting legislature becomes three legislative viruses. You had one convoy blocking traffic? Congratulations — you now have seven. This is democratic duplication of dysfunction. Step 3: Cook With the People’s Hunger Imagine a man who can’t feed his wife and two children, standing proudly to announce he will marry two more wives. Not for love. Oh no. For prestige. He believes hunger will respect him more if it sees more plates on the table. That, right there, is Nigerian logic in motion. We are expanding our poverty to make it look like progress. Step 4: Ignore Reality, Embrace Decoration The roads are craters. Classrooms are ruins. Hospitals are haunted. Teachers, soldiers, and police officers live like refugees in their own land. Youth unemployment is higher than the country’s moral standards. But worry not, they are working hard… to draw new maps. Because apparently, new borders cure old stupidity. Step 5: Add Committees to Committees Instead of paying police pensions, buy more siren SUVs. Instead of fixing school roofs, add curtains to new offices. Instead of building factories, form committees and subcommittees, then create a committee to “oversee committee formation.” We now have Special Assistants, Senior Special Assistants, Personal Assistants, and the Special Assistant to the man who carries the bag of the Personal Assistant. Nigeria’s job creation plan is working, just not for you. Step 6: Master the Art of Political Theatre Governance in Nigeria is a Netflix special, same plot, new season. Actors change, but the script remains: steal, smile, and swear to serve. They’ve tied government appetite to the pockets of the poor, turning citizens into a national soup pot that politicians dip into whenever policy feels hungry. And every election season, they call it democracy stew. Step 7: Build the Golden Roof on the Broken House Before you split a town in two, fix the granary. Before you marry more wives, feed the children. Before you add chairs in the assembly, fix the broken ones in classrooms. But no, they insist on building a golden roof on a cracked foundation. A shining disaster waiting to collapse, but hey, it photographs well! The Final Truth Bomb Let’s call it what it is: This is not governance. It’s theatre with tears. This is not reform. It’s recycling of rot. This is not nation-building. It’s ego management with budget allocation. And every time they announce a new state, a poor man somewhere in Nigeria whispers: “Ah, maybe this new state will finally bring development.” No, my brother. It will bring more convoys, more curtains, more committees — and one extra anthem to sing before they steal again.

The strength of any nation lies not only in the soundness of its policies, but in the courage of its people and leaders to stay the course. Policies, no matter how well-crafted, require consistency, patience, and faith in the process. When we remain steadfast, when we follow through with discipline and vision, we will eventually reap the fruits of our efforts. At this stage of our national journey, what we need most is for our states and local governments to rise to the challenge to scale up their activities and match words with action. Development does not happen by chance; it happens by deliberate effort, by commitment at every level of governance. Nigeria is a nation richly blessed with fertile land, abundant natural resources, and, above all, a resilient and industrious people. A country with such vast arable land should not be faced with the challenge of food insecurity. The Land Use Act places all lands in the hands of state governments, and with that comes a sacred responsibility to use this land wisely, productively, and for the common good. Fellow Nigerians, our land holds promise. Our people hold potential. But potential alone is not enough it must be cultivated, nurtured, and translated into productivity. We must return to the soil, not just in agriculture, but in spirit grounded, rooted, and determined to grow. Nigeria is not just a geographical space; it is our collective heritage. It belongs to each and every one of us regardless of tribe, faith, or region. We owe this nation our goodwill, our honesty, and our hard work. Let us therefore commit ourselves anew to building a nation that feeds itself, that sustains itself, and that believes in itself. Together, with unity of purpose and consistency of action, we can transform Nigeria into the prosperous homeland we all dream of. Thank you, and may God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

According to a report from S&P Global, the Dangote refinery is anticipated to commence crude oil production in the near future. Dangote's upstream oil operations, Oil Mining Leases 71 and 72, are set to begin producing approximately 40,000 barrels of crude oil daily. S&P report Said, “Dangote’s upstream assets in the Niger Delta, Oil Mining Lease 71 and 72, could soon provide another supply injection, with production expected to start this month and reach up to 40,000 b/d.” It was also noted that Alhaji Aliko Dangote, the Group President, is still keen on exploring new upstream opportunities, which could contribute to the conglomerate's growing asset portfolio. As the refinery expands, initial difficulties in obtaining crude oil are likely to intensify. Nonetheless, Dangote has achieved a significant agreement with the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited to help ease these supply issues. Under an ongoing "crude for naira" swap deal, the NNPC provides Dangote with 14 shipments of crude oil or finds an equivalent amount in US dollars. In return, Dangote supplies the same quantity of gasoline and gasoil, which is paid for in the local currency.
