Today, at our Riva Trigoso shipyard, the keel-laying ceremony was held for the second of four next-generation Offshore Patrol Vessels (OPVs) that we are building for the Italian Navy. This program, put in place to contribute to the modernization and renewal of the Italian Navy's units, envisages the construction of four vessels - contracted by Orizzonte Sistemi Navali, our joint venture with Leonardo - with an option for additional two, with the first delivery scheduled for 2027. The ceremony was attended, among others, by the Shipyard Director Antonio Quintano. The OPV program responds to the need to ensure adequate capabilities for presence and surveillance, maritime patrolling, merchant traffic control, protection of lines of communication and the exclusive economic zone, as well as operations to protect against threats derived from marine pollution. The new patrol vessels, equipped with advanced technological solutions and standards of excellence in automation and maneuverability, will be able to operate in a wide range of tactical scenarios and weather conditions. We are further strengthening our position as a global leader in naval defence, bringing on board advanced units that confirm our role as a strategic partner of the Italian Navy, showcasing Italy’s expertise in defense and in advanced naval integration. @ItalianNavy @Leonardo_live @Leonardo_IT
